About Sofia

Sofia Jernroth is a photographer, journalist, and scholar with a passion for intellectual property law and human rights, and politics, particularly in the context of Sub-Saharan Africa. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Intellectual Property Rights within Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on the rights of local communities and cultural heritage. Jernroth holds a Master's degree in International Law and Human Rights, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Media Culture. Her work often blends her academic focus with photography, providing a creative dimension to her projects.

Jernroth has grown up in both Kenya and Finland, which has given her a unique cultural perspective. In Finland, she has worked with politics for a decade. Her photography and scholarly work have been exhibited and recognized internationally, including in England, China, Slovakia, Finland, the USA, and Germany. She is based in Oslo, Norway, while continuing to work as a freelance photojournalist, graphic designer and illustrator.

As a designer, Jernroth specializes in visual identities, storytelling, and meeting the diverse needs of brands across digital and print media. She brings eight years of experience in political communication to her work.
